Yarnstorm

January - March, 2021| New England Botanic Garden

During Yarnstorm, New England Botanic Garden’s trees, benches, statues, and more were decorated with bright, fantastical fiber artwork. The exhibit featured over 25 unique pieces of art created by 40 local artists and included over 2,500 colorful pom poms. Each artist found inspiration at the garden and used nature and imagination to create their one-of-a-kind pieces that spread messages of hope, peace, and wonder.

Scope of Work

  • Recruited and worked with 40 local artists

  • Wrote and designed interpretative outdoor signs

  • Led the installation of artwork throughout the grounds

Interpretation

The signs for each art piece were simple and contained a QR Code (image on the right) that led to a PDF containing information on the artists and their work (image on the left).

Behind the Scenes

Over 2,000 pom poms were created by hand for this exhibit. Each were handmade by staff and volunteers.

I led the installation of each of these pieces in coordination of the artists that created them.
